Guyana international Nicolette Fernandes claimed the second WSA World Tour title of her career after winning the Il Torneo Internacional Femenino in Guatemala. 

The former world No27 received a Bye in the first round, but then made completed strong wins against local Graciela Lopez Perez, Celia Allamargot of France and Deon Saffrey of Wales in the final. 

Saffery was a surprise inclusion in the final she fought a five-game battle with second seed Nayelly Hernandez in the quarter final, before beating Kristen Lange of the USA in the semi finals.

The London-based Fernandes, playing her first tournament in eight months, proved too strong in the final, as the No1 seed came out on top after a resilient fight from the Welshwoman forced the match to five games.
