It is the Egyptian teenagers who are stealing the headlines for the June Rankings this month.  Nour El Sherbini continued her startling form to reach the final of the Allam British Open in May, beating three higher seeds on the way to not only make her the first Egyptian female in a British Open final, but also the youngest.  The sixteen-year-old leaps 8 places in the WSA Rankings to sit at No7 in the world, making her the youngest ever player to feature in the world’s top ten.  Also sixteen, Sherbini’s national compatriot Yathreb Adel, winner of last week’s Mexico Open, rises four places to No31. 

Alison Waters continued her steady climb up the rankings, moving up four places to 24, whilst some impressive results for her fellow Englishwoman Sarah-Jane Perry has seen the 22-year-old rise seventeen places to No43, and occupy a top50 spot for the first time. 

Joshna Chinappa also returns to the top50, after a successful injury comeback saw the Indian claim the Chennai Open on her home soil last week.  The former world No28 jumped 22 places from her previous ranking to occupy No49. 

At the top of the rankings, the leading pair Nicol David and Jenny Duncalf remain unmoved, but Laura Massaro has maintained her game of cat-and-mouse with Madeline Pery by reclaiming the No3 spot.  Following her British Open semi-final appearance, Raneem El Weleily has moved up to No4, her highest WSA Ranking to date, whilst Perry has dropped to fifth. 

Elsewhere, Maria Tour Pakay of Pakistan and Deon Saffrey of Wales ensure their highest ranking places, having moved up fourteen places to occupy No53 and No64 respectively.  Coline Aumard and Liu Tsz-Ling have also risen to career highs, Aumard for qualifying for the British Open first round, and Tsz-Ling for winning her second WSA World Tour title, the WA Open in Australia.  Recent Il Torneo Internacional champion Nicolette Fernandes returning from injury, jumps twenty-one places to No76, whilst Anna Jurken of Poland breaks into the top100 for the first time, rising 25 places to No97.
