  • Biography

2010 saw Alison Waters really establish herself as one of the best players in the world. Her powerful and attacking game helped push her to a career high ranking of number three. She reached the semi final or better at all tournaments in 2010, as well as claiming the British National title.

Following an explosive year for the Englishwoman, reaching No3 in the world for the first time in October of that year, her progress was to suffer a tragic setback after an Achilles injury limited her to just two WSA World Tour appearances throughout the entire 2011 season.

In Spring of 2012 however, Waters stormed back to the world stage in dramatic style as she claimed three successive titles as a non-seed in the Atwater Cup, No4 seed in the Granite Club Open and as a qualifier in the Irish Open, during which she dispatched No7 seed Nour El Sherbini, No3 Jaclyn Hawkes and No1 seed and world No4 Madeline Perry.

Alison made the second round of the British Open before adding her fourth title of the year in the Des Pyramides Open in Paris, again as a qualifying entrant.  Following her return to the tour, her ranking rose drastically and in September she regained the Top10 spot that was taken from her by injury.

More promising results in the Carol Weymuller Open, including a first ever win over Nicol David, and US Open saw the Englishwoman place above her seeding, and a semi-final finish in the China Open in October gave Waters back the No.4 spot in the world rankings.

In 2013 Alison reached the semi-final of the Cleveland Classic in January and followed this with a third British National title in Manchester. March saw her reach the CIMB KL Open final and another semi final finish at the British Open in May. Waters finished 2013 strongly by reaching the semi finals of the Hong Kong Open.

2014 started with Alison reaching two consecutive semi-finals at the Tournament of Champions and Cleveland Classic. A fourth British National title came in February and after this slightly disappointing results with a loss in the quarter final of the Windy City Open and the second round of the World Championship in Penang. Alison responded by reaching the British Open semi final for the second year in a row.
